From 2005:- My callsign has recently been pirated on HF by some one in Europe. The piracy started out on CW in March 2005, but in November 2005 he turned to using RTTY. This pirate also insists on QSL direct only, the result is that I've received quite a few direct QSL cards for QSOs I haven't had!!

So why is he doing this??

I don't know...  the people this pirate is upsetting are fellow radio amateurs around the world. THIS MEANS YOU!!

What is the pirate getting out of this piracy?

A good question, I can only assume he's getting some sort of perverse pleasure in upsetting his fellow radio amateur operators.

What do I as the real GD0TEP get out of this?

Nothing... I try to contact each direct QSL request via email to inform them that they worked a pirate, I have also sent emails to the RSGB, the ARRL and JARL, along with posting emails to various reflectors. I'm basically trying to keep the peace and everyone well informed of the piracy of my callsign.

All this means is that I'm spending more time on the internet letting people know of the piracy and less time on the radio!!

So what happens now?

Good question... I guess he can carry on using my callsign as i've no way of stopping him, but what sort of perverse enjoyment he gets from it i just don't know.

Here is a sample of recent DXcluster spots of the pirate using my callsign.! A sample of older spots covering earlier this year are blow as well.

In April 2008 the pirate used my callsign once again, and once again he could be found on 40m.

Here's a spot off the dxcluster:
